Getchu vadyam, also known as gettuvadyam, gethu vadyam, or
Jhallari, is a very rare instrument. It is a hammered lute, only 2-3
feet long. It is placed in front of the performer and struck with
two small bamboo mallets. It is found only in the deep south where
it is played along with the mridangam. There are very few artists
today who play this instrument. |
